The size, shape and weight of the Martin Steel String Backpacker guitar makes it ideal for travel.  You can throw this guitar on your should and hike a mountain without any fatigue from the carry.

As an environmentally friendly guitar, it fits the vibe of what this guitar would pair with well which is traveling, hiking etc.

Don't get caught up in trying to compare this guitar with any other Martin guitar in their line.  The intention of this guitar is fulfilled in it's ergonomics and at it's price point you can't expect this to hold the same tonal quality as full sized vintage Martin designs.
